INBRE Investigator Granted Tenure at Colby College

Current INBRE Investigator Tariq Ahmad, PhD, has been granted tenure at Colby College. The Ahmad Lab studies the effects of mutations associated with neurodegenerative diseases, like frontotemporal dementia, on sleep-wake cycle, using fruit flies as a model system. Dr. Ahmad has been part of the Maine INBRE program since May 2014. More details about his INBRE project are here.

Tariq AhmadDr. Ahmad has published seven articles and an invited book chapter, involving students in five of those publications. He holds a B.S. in biochemistry from Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh, India, an M.S. in medical biotechnology from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India, and a Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
