Maine INBRE offers short laboratory research courses for undergraduate students. Courses are often held during winter or spring break as an enrichment to the curricula of students’ institutions. These courses offer a full-immersion laboratory experience at the MDI Biological Laboratory or a network institution, and teach laboratory skills in the context of a focused research project in the biomedical sciences. Courses introduce students to molecular biology and genetics research techniques with a research focus such as toxicology, development, neurology, or membrane transport. Some courses are offered for academic credit. Students should check with their institution’s INBRE Executive Committee member for more information.
